Selling the boss' phones- She likes to throw them at all of them. So he keeps them and sells them. Smiling- He knows that smiling can confuse people especially when he does it at the oddest times. Cross-shaped necklace- He was given this by someone close to him and he finds it precious. Dislikes: Being compared to a cat- Cats are lazy and fat. He is only one of those and that's only sometimes. Not being able to fluster someone- He likes to do this so its frustrating if he isn't able to. Someone prying into his life- It annoys him when people do this. Cats- He's grown to strongly dislike them since he's compared to them so much. Being told he's fickle- He isn't a completely fickle by definition. He's just indecisive and has weird emotional control. The other type of Crepes- They aren't as good or have as many flavors as the Japanese kind. Having something other than his boss' phone thrown at him- He has to dodge the other things and there is no way he can sell them. Not being able to tease someone- It's his hobby so he doesn't like it when he can't do it. How awkward with expressing himself he is- He wishes he was a bit better at expressing himself. Strenghs: Teasing people- It's probably the best thing he's good at. Loyal to Varia/Vongola- He may bug the heck out of his boss but he's loyal to her. Deceiving people- All it takes is a smile and anyone can be confused. Expressing himself by actions- He express himself otherwise so he just jumps into action. Smart- He may be a bit lazy now but he wasn't when he was going to school. He's pretty smart. Book smart and street smart. Weaknesses: Loosing his cross-shaped necklace- It's his an important thing in his life. People using his past against him- He keeps his past to himself so that no one can use it against him in his line of work. Loosing his position as Varia Rain Guardian- He worked really hard and went through so much to get there. It'd kill him if he lost it. Someone else finding his sister before him- He doesn't want someone to find her before he does because he doesn't want her used against him. Personality: Ryuu has been known to be very quiet and keep to himself. He doesn't do that at all times but a majority of the time he does. Its not that he doesn't like to talk but that he finds a lot of the time its the best action. He is in Varia after all and the best thing to do is to keep quiet especially when the boss is in a foul mood. He keeps to himself so that in a result other people around him will keep to themselves as well. He doesn't like it when people try to pry into his life and will walk off annoyed although his face wouldn't betray him with an annoyed look. Ryuu isn't one for showing much emotion on his face and he usually tries to refrain from doing so. His job requires him using as little of his emotions as he can but that doesn't mean he doesn't have them. His emotions come out when he isn't on a job and he doesn't normally hold them back either. He doesn't get emotional like for example burst into tears but he does smile and laugh as much as he can or is necessary. His emotions are a part of him and he can only hide them for the length of a mission or a short period of time. Ryuu appears to be mysterious and strange to most of the people around him. His mysterious appearance is only a gesture toward his job of an assassin and the way he dresses. His attitude is usually kept out of it as he is pretty light hearted wearing a smile when he deems it fit. His strangeness is almost always pointed out as he is walking down the street and this is usually said a loud. He just has a knack for ignoring said comments now. He just can't help that people think he's strange without knowing him or just by judging him via his clothing. As mentioned briefly before, Ryuu does not like talking about himself very much as well as doesn't talk a majority of the time. He doesn't like people knowing that much about him and doesn't want people to know that much about his past. Its not like something really bad happened in his past he just prefers people not knowing a whole lot about him as he doesn't want it used against him in his line of work. He's seen this happen before to lesser people and he is terrified of it happening to him; though he doesn't show that. When he isn't speaking much he usually doesn't open his mouth at all unless it's to tease someone or say something weird. Teasing people is like a habit for him and so it's hard from him to refrain from this. He doesn't always say weird things but he'll usually say them at the oddest times and it'll be the most awkward thing for that situation. When it comes to expressing himself, Ryuu is pretty horrible at it especially through speech and his emotions. He does have them even though it may appear that he doesn't. He just doesn't show them that much because of his job. He would seem to know how to express himself through them since he smiles and laughs but he doesn't. He almost always leaves this awkwardness to his actions and that could be anything really. The emotions or speech he has the most trouble expressing is sadness or love. He doesn't cry and can never find the right words to say how or why he is sad and so he just hides in his room for a little bit. He is a little awkward when it comes to expressing his love or saying such a thing to someone and will just jump to hugging someone or a kiss if need be. Ryuu has been called lazy at more than one occasion and has been compared to a cat at many different times. He does seem to wonder off at the worst times all to just find a place to take a nap in. This is what people usually call him lazy and cat-like over. He doesn't in the least like being compared to such an animal and does get particularly irritated over it. Depending on who says it to him he'll either storm off or just pick them up by the neck of their shirt and shove them into a wall. He would prefer to be compared to a fox if compared to any animal at all because of his box animal. Ryuu really doesn't have any clue where his habit of teasing people comes from but he doesn't care. He likes to make people become flustered over his words, which brings a smile to his face. His teasing knows no bounds and it usually is a result of something random in his mind. He does make people mad over his words sometimes and he does his best to avoid being hit by these said people. His favorite victims of his teasing is females and children as they are pretty easy targets. His teasing does go too far sometimes and he tries to rein it in as best as he can, which is not easy or very often. On occasions people like to describe Ryuu as fickle. He believes that this might be a result from his emotions always changing since he uses them so much after missions. It could also be the fact that he seems unable to ever make up his mind but he is always able to settle on idea in the end. His fickleness can't honestly been seen as bad though because he isn't fickle with people's hearts or anything of the like. He just indecisive and has a weird control on his emotions. A P P E A R A N C E ! Height: 6'3" Weight: 178 lbs. Remarkable Features: Ryuu doesn't really wear much things in the accessory department but does have a necklace that he wears, a long chain with a silver cross shaped charm on it. He does tend to wear studded belts whenever he is in casual cloths. He only wears two rings and that is his Varia Rain ring and regular lightening ring on his right hand. His height and he appears to be catlike to several people. Overall Looks: Ryuu is a tall male with a lean looking body build. He may be skinny but he definitely has muscles from all his training and fights. He has short black hair that reaches to about his neck and his bangs crop perfectly around his face with parts falling onto his face too. His hair tends to be a bit messy as well as have fly away hairs and he has a pair of red eyes that sometimes appear lighter or darker with the right lighting. He generally wears a lot of dark clothing and his style is usually considered to be punk. He doesn't really follow the trends though and usually puts on what he likes to wear; it just happens to be in that category. He likes to wear a variety of well worn jeans always dark usually skinny jeans or jeans pretty close to being skinny jeans. He generally wears different types of shirts from tight t-shirts to dress shirts depends on his mood.He does wear one outfit in particular that resembles a school uniform and it possibly is the one that he wore in high school; it is mainly black. His favorite shoe to wear is a pair of black boots but he also wears a variety of different colored converses. He has various scars on his body some that are barely visible and a couple that can been seen. He has one that runs the length of his calf and another diagonal scar across his upper back. When it comes to wearing his Varia uniform, Ryuu wears as much of the uniform as any other Varia guardian but he chooses to wear his jacket open with a black shirt underneath. He leaves his belt in the loops on his jacket just hanging there and he wears the standard issue boots that lace up the front. He wears his uniform in the correct way when he has too if only with a slight attitude. A B I L I T I E S ! Hitman Ability: Ryuu has been fighting for a rather long time by now. He is most trained in karate being a black belt and was taught to wield a scythe. That is probably why his favored box weapon is that of a scythe. He is able to wield almost any shape or size of scythe having gained the right type of muscles for this. He can run pretty fast too but that's cause he's been trained for it and was part of his high school track team. He sometimes amazes people when he can spin his scythe around like it weighs nothing and even run around with it. Try and hold his Rain scythe though and you'll find that it isn't that easy to hold at all. He learned how to use his Kusarigama at a later date and gained excellent control over them. Ring(s): (Varia) Rain ring and lightening ring
Box Weapon:
Falce di Pioggia- Scythe of the Rain
This box weapon is his main fighting tool and also his favorite one to use. This box is geared towards his Rain flames and a scythe. It isn't like a regular scythe as it's blade is covered in Rain flames and it has a beautiful feathery decoration that sprouts from the other side of the metal pole in the opposite direction of the scythe blade. The feathers start out in a brilliant yellow color before fading into a soft orange then into a dull red continuing on into a light purple and ending in a lovely blue color. Both ends of the metal pole that holds the elegant blade are sharpened to a point and can have Rain flames concentrated onto them when he wants to just stab someone with them. The blade itself is rather long and is always appears to be sharp. If swung in a certain way then Ryuu can send Rain flames flying at his enemy. Over the years, Ryuu has honed his ability of his Rain flames and it has resulted in his completely control over them as well as his hardcore ability to suppress the flames of his opponents if they are not careful. As stated if his scythe is swung a certain way then he will be able to send Rain flames flying at his enemy but this could be avoided in most cases.
Kusarigama di Fulmine- Kusarigama of the Lightning
This box weapon is his secondary tool for fighting and he uses it a lot less than his main weapon. This is a pair of Kusarigama that are connected by a long chain. The two blades are cover in green flames and the chain can be covered in such flames if concentrated. Ryuu can use the 12 foot chain to wrap around his enemy or victim and either slash at them with the blades of the Kusarigama or concentrate his Lightning flame into the chain and electrocute them. The green flame is in the shape of the usual lightning bolts. He can't do all that much with these flames through as they are his secondary flames but he has figured out a useful technique. His lightning box weapon may be the Kusarigama but he is able to unhook one of the smaller scythes from the chain and us it in unison with his rain box weapon or he can concentrate his rain flames with his lightning flames. Mixing in a little bit of his rain flames will make the electric current a bit stronger and have a lasting effect on his enemy.
Box Animal:
Volpe argentata di Pioggia- Silver Fox of the Rain
A small and slim with silver and black fur and yellow eyes. She is a Silver Fox and has rain flames coming from her big black ears, around her small black paws, and on the white tip of her bushy black tail. Ryuu took the liberty of naming his box animal Gina, which means "silvery" in Japanese. He wasn't very creative when it came to giving her a name but it suits her nonetheless. Her black fur is perfectly over dominated by her silver fur that coats her body, most of her head, and a bit of the bottom of her tail. She is very affectionate towards Ryuu and almost treats him like he is her kit. When she is released from her box, she greets Ryuu with a lick to his face and then waits for her orders. She helps Ryuu defend when he needs help by running past him and flicking her tail up, which sends a big wave of rain flames in front of him. Otherwise she runs around the battle area to throw off the enemy. The rain flames on her paws allow her to float in the air, which gives her a better vantage point. She mainly runs about above the fight that Ryuu is in and as she does this spreads rain flames about the field but these flames only effect that of the enemy's own box animal. The result is that the animal will lose its ability to fight or want to fight and become useless to their owners.[/div][/center]
B A C K G R O U N D !
History: Ryuu Itami was born in the month of July on the 20th to a pair of normal hardworking parents. Its a bit of a wonder how he even got associated with the Varia, let alone the mafia, in the first place. He was raised as any other normal kid would be and attended school like the next kid after him. He was an only child so his father worked hard to give him the best things he could. He was raised by his mother more than anything as his father was gone for most of the day working.
Although around the time that he turned 7, it was expected that he would be graced with a younger sibling at all. The occurrence had actually surprised the entire family but he was happy nonetheless. He had only ever experienced younger kids when he was with his friends from school and always heard them complaining about them. He didn't think that having one would be all that bad. As a 7 year old he had school to attend but he'd race home to help his mother take care of her before he would go off to karate practice.
Nothing really interesting happened as the next 5 or so years passed. He helped his mother take care of his little sister and attended school. Occasionally taking a break to hang out with his friends and practice karate at the dojo he attended. As he was nearing the end of his 12th year of age, however, he noticed that his parents seemed to be arguing more than possibly average for them and it wasn't a simple disagreement either. Something always ended up broken on the floor as his father's rage resulted in such although he never laid a hand on anyone in his family.
Ryuu had been sure to watch over his little sister and mother rather closely when his father was mad and arguing with his mother. He loved them both and didn't want either one of them ending up hurt if his father did decide to target one of them. In the end it seemed the only one that he had been able to protect was his little sister as he had been out picking her up from school when something tragic happened. He came home with his little sister holding his hand only to find their house taped off and full of police. He had been 14 at the time while his little sister was 7 and they were sent off to an orphanage as their mother had been killed by their father.
It wasn't long after they had been placed into the orphanage that his sister was being taken away from him. His sister was so used to being by her big brother's side that she had burst into tears as soon as she was taken from him and was being walked out the doors. He had ran to her side and snatched her up into a hug as he comforted her trying to keep himself from crying himself. They had just lost both their parents in one fell swoop and now they were being forced apart because the family only wanted a young daughter. He ended up having to reassure her that her big brother would always watch over her no matter how far apart they were and that some day when they were both a lot older he would come to find her.
Ryuu didn't find out until he was much older that his little sister was actually just his half sibling and that had been the source of his parent's arguments. He had only been mad at his mom briefly, even though she was dead, as she had brought him a younger sibling despite it not being with his father. His father had been in the wrong to kill his mother over such a trivial thing as to who was the real father over his sister. Even knowing the truth, he wants to keep his promise to his little sister and find her where ever she may be. He has the resources to find her now but he wants to be sure that he'll be able to gain custody of her when he does.
It wasn't until he was 15 that Ryuu was adopted and taken from his hometown of Namimori. The entire year that he had been in the orphanage they had allowed him to continue taking his karate lessons and now he would have to continue for another town. He didn't find out until he reached his home just what he had been adopted into and was taken by surprise. It seemed that such a thing as the mafia actually did exist and he had just found himself right in the middle of it. He had been adopted by a pretty high up member of a decently known mafia family.
To his surprise he found out that the family that had adopted him had been pretty close to his father at one time. Before he was a wife murder and felt that it was in his best interest to be watched over by them. He was told that his father's job that had kept him busy most of the time was that of a courier and so his father had had a very important role amongst many different families. Apparently his father had wanted him to become the same as him but the family said that being a courier wouldn't fit him. He was nimble and fast on his feet but they felt that he'd make a better hit man than anything.
So at the young age of 15, Ryuu had began his journey of becoming a hit man. By the time he had turned 17 he had become full fledged black belt and had graduated in his tutor's eyes to that of a full time hit man or at least part time as he still needed to finish school. While he had been training he had learned how to wield a scythe as his tutor had found it the weapon that matched him best. He gained status as a hit man fairly quickly and was quickly being referred to as The Reaper for his weapon and all the killings he had accomplished. This made his family's belief that he'd make a much better hit man true.
A couple of months after graduating from high school, he had been approached by a couple of people. He wasn't sure who they were but they certainly knew who he was as they had called him out by name. He was told to go with them and soon after found himself standing in front of the 10th Vongola boss. He didn't know at the time but he had met him a year or so before he would step down and pass the title over to someone a lot younger. He was asked by the Vongola boss, Tsuna Sawada, if he would join the Vongola but not just as a hit man but as a member of the Varia.
Ryuu was surprised by this as he had done his own research on the mafia families and the Vongola was the one with the most power along with Varia being an elite assassin branch. He gave a quick smile and told him that he would return the next day with his answer as he wanted to ask his family about it first. As soon as he got home he sat down with his adoptive parents and told them that he had been asked to join the Vongola. His adoptive father grinned and immediately went off to phone the boss that he worked for. He hadn't been attached to any family in particular but he had done a lot of jobs for his father's mafia family.
The 18 year old at the time had been told that it was the highest honor to be asked to join the Vongola and that being a part of the Varia was even better. That meant that his talent as a hit man hadn't been left unseen and he was being recognized for it. He had his final decision before he had drifted off to sleep that night and the next day he returned to the headquarters to accept the offer. He was made the Rain guardian of Varia and he settled in their headquarters right away. He was given two boxes as well as one ring when he entered and trained a little with them.
Later on he discovered that he had another flame type that he could use other than his rain flame. He obtained another box and a ring that would go along with his secondary flame and trained his abilities with his newly discovered lightning flame. He was a quick learner and accomplished his training in no time. He has done plenty of missions by now and knows the protocols and how his boss ticks. He knows that she can get mad fairly easily and has a tendency to throw things at him and his fellow members when they make her mad.
Maria has lost plenty of her Iphones to her throwing them at him and him selling them on the internet. Money isn't all that important to him but he knows it could be the only possible way of getting his sister back. He isn't going to pay her adoptive parents to get custody over but instead is going to use the money to take care of her. He knows it won't be an easy battle since he doesn't exactly do taxes for his job and that just because she's his older brother it doesn't mean that he's the best home for her. He is still working to keep this promise whether she remembers it or not and will let nothing stop him not even his job. Doesn't mean that he isn't still good at his job though as he doesn't let anything get to him. Nor do any of his fellow Varia members really know why he is gathering money but he does love his job.
